Survivor star, HPU alum Carty publishes essay compilation, to visit campus

He was a contestant on the 12th season of "Survivor" and a traveling motivational speaker, and now Austin Carty can add fast selling author to his list of feats. Not bad for someone who hasn't even turned 30. On Feb. 8, the recent High Point University graduate will be on campus to give readings from his book, "High Points and Lows," a humorous collection of personal essays about his life, pop culture and the search for answers in the often cloudy world of faith.

Avatar sinks Titanic in box office numbers, makes history

Last weekend my friends and I were trying to decide what to do on another restless Friday night. We decided to check out a club in Greensboro called Greene Street. Soon after we arrived, a band called "The Movement" took the stage. The band, a rare mix of reggae, rock and hip-hop, consists of Gary Jackson, Josh Swain, Jordan Miller and Jay "Smiles" Schmidt.
